The Pink Laptop As A Business Opportunity

For ages computers were beige, that kind of horrible beige plastic that changes colour with age so it starts to look dirty, grimy and greasy. The we started getting black computers hurray! Henry Ford would be proud. Nowadays it’s great to see manufacturers starting to experiment with other colours, the Asus EEE PC for example is available in the colours shown in this picture.

Does colour really matter though? After all surely the fact that it runs the latest version of Windows or has a web cam or the 527 Megawotsits of RAM count right?

Not really, computers are mainstream now, they’re not for geeks like me anymore they’re for students, kids, home entertainment, grandparents, oh and occasionally businesses. It’s people like my mother in law who are driving the growing demand for laptops and she wants a pink one!

The chap in the shop on the other hand wanted to tell her it had Vista on it, her response “is that bad?” says it all. The future of the PC is as an appliance and we want our appliances to look nice - ideally nice and pink!

If you’re in the PC business, now is the time to seize this business opportunity, forget going green, go pink!
